According to our 1885 document Soc. Rosc. in Canada , Standard Rules and Regulations for Rosicrucian Colleges:

There was a a " MacLeod Moore College " in Peterborough , Ont.
Chief Adept was V. Wor. Fr. E.H.D. Hall, VIII°   (the father of Manley P. Hall) Celebrant was Rt. Wor. Fr. V. Clementi, B.A.  Hon IX°.

There was also a " Ontario College " in Orillia , Ont. Chief Adept was John Dumbrille, IX, Maitland Ontario  (who was also the Junior Sub. Magus).
(No Celebrant is listed).

The McLeod Moore College was re-constituted as to fulfill the ritual aspect and the Ontario College would remain a research college

The early history differs from our current structure as the Celebrant was not the main office. For example Dominion College had George C Longley as Master General and Chief Adept. The Celebrant then being equivalent to JW.

Similarly with Ontario College from 1936 to 1997 the senior office was Chief Adept as per the MSRICF system.

When we re-formed the HC of SRIC it was decided that Ontario College would remain a research College and McLeod Moore would be the ritual College. It was only then that we switched to the model of the Chief Adept presiding over a Province and each College having a Celebrant as its head.
